Myth: Genital Acne is a contagious disease
Fact: This is not true as it cannot be transmitted to other persons. It is caused by the hormonal changes in the body and poor hygiene.

Myth: Food has no impact on causing Genital Acne
Fact: There are cases where people suffering from acne have followed this statement and have made the disorder grow strong. There are food items that tend to exacerbate the acne and make them incurable.

Myth: Masturbation leads to genital acne
Fact: Masturbation does not relate with the causes of genital acne in any way. Although this myth has been doing rounds over various internet sites but it is not true as both are independent of each other.

Myth: Hard scrubbing can reduce genital acne.
Fact: No matter how hard you scrub the area affected by genital acne, you would never succeed in eliminating the acne break outs in this area. It would only worsen the condition causing worse skin condition caused by too much friction.

Myth: Having genital acne means you are an untidy person.
Fact: Good personal hygiene cannot be derived from having genital acne. Though poor hygiene is one of the factors which cause it but there are other factors which contribute to this as well.

Myth: Genital acne is a Sexually transmitted Disease.
Fact: Having genital acne does not mean that you are having an STD. Genital acne is an irritated skin condition basically in the groin area. It is not primarily transmitted sexually. It is experienced if your skin pores in the genital area are blocked.

Myth: Squeezing and popping genital acne would help clear out the problem quickly.
Fact: This is totally unreal. If you continue with your desire to prick or pop the acne, you are not eliminating the problem but in fact making the skin condition worse. It may cause infection because you are only making a deeper mark on the skin after the eruption clears out.
